After the issue of iOS 13 and iPadOS earlier this week, mobile phone giant Apple has come up with an advisory cautioning iPhone and iPad users of an unpatched security virus affecting third-party keyboard apps.
On iOS, third-party keyboard extensions can run completely separate without access to outside services and therefore, are are not allowed to store what you type unless you give “full access” permissions to enable some additional features through network access.
Nevertheless, in the brief security advisory, the company says that an unpatched issue in iOS 13 and iPadOS could enable third-party keyboard apps to give themselves “full access” permission to access what you are typing.
It is worth noting that the iOS 13 virus doesn’t impact Apple’s built-in keyboards or third-party keyboards that don’t utilize complete access.
Rather, the virus only affects users who have third-party keyboard apps fixed on their iPhones or iPads, which are intended to request full access from users.
While having complete access enables app developers to get hold of all keystroke data and everything one types, no reputable third-party keyboard apps is likely to exploit this problem.
The tech behemoth assured its users that it is already working to fix this issue, which it intends to release in its forthcoming software update.
