VideoLan has issued VLC Media Player 3.0.8, which is on hand for Windows, Mac, and Linux. The release repaired 13 security susceptibilities as well as providing enhancements to video playback.

The major improvements in this release consist of a fix for stammering while watching low frame rate videos, better adaptive streaming support, fixed WebVTT subtitle execution, and enhanced audio yield in macOS and iOS.

Also, this release fixes 13 susceptibilities that include several buffer excess, null after free, null dereference, and division by zero weaknesses. Many of these susceptibilities, if not all, were revealed directly by the VLC developers.

As per the company’s security bulletin, these susceptibilities could be misused by a remote user generating a specially created file and deceiving a user into opening it. Doing so would activate a crash or carry out code implementation in the security context of the logged in user.

Thanks to the amount of security susceptibilities fixed in this release, it is strongly recommended that all users download and install version 3.0.8.
