According to officials and reports, Donald Trump’s campaign website was allegedly hacked by cryptocurrency scammers on Tuesday, just a week before Election Day.

A message that popped up on Trump’s website, which typically has details of rallies and fundraising appeals, read: “This site was seized.”

The US media reported that the message went on to say: “The world has had enough of the fake-news spreaded daily by president donald j trump.”

Trump campaign spokesman Tim Murtaugh said the site was rapidly fixed and no important data was affected.

“The Trump campaign website was defaced and we are working with law enforcement authorities to investigate the source of the attack,” Murtaugh said.

The technology website TechCrunch said the hack seemed to be a scam designed to collect hard-to-trace cryptocurrency Monero.

In their message, the hackers claimed to have private information on Trump and his relatives.

They advised people to send cryptocurrency to one address if they wanted the information exposed and to another to keep it confidential.
