On late Friday, European football club Manchester United divulged a cybersecurity event that affected its internal systems.

The football club said it was still probing the incident and was not able to say if the break let the attackers access data linked with fans or store customers.

While the club remained silent about what the intruders managed to access, they said the event didn’t affect its key media channels, such as its website and mobile apps.

“All critical systems required for matches to take place at Old Trafford remain secure and operational and tomorrow’s game against West Bromwich Albion will go ahead,” club officials said in a press release issued late Friday night.

The club’s officials said they noticed and took rapid actions to arrest the attack, which abated its effect. Manchester United also said it’s now working with security specialists to probe the incident and reduce the IT disruption. Manchester police was also informed of the incident.

Manchester United is the second major UK club to reveal a chief security breach. In July 2018, a cybercriminal accessed FC Liverpool’s IT network and gathered data on the club’s fans.
