Colonial Pipeline has taken the FBI onboard to work on this issue and the FBI has confirmed that DarkSide ransomware is entirely responsible for this attack. DarkSide has put the Colonial Pipeline networks at stake and the FBI has pledged to continue working with the Colonial Pipeline to get to the depth of this investigation.
As for the DarkSide ransomware, it has been associated with the big hunting methods that take the advantage of the largest organizations in the world, hence, the Colonial Pipeline issue. DarkSide is witnessed to be quite active and running since 2020. The group is said to breach the systems of the biggest organizations in return for ransomware payment demands that range from $200,000 to $2,000,000.
However, after series of cybercrimes, DarkSide claims to be have their heart in the right place. They said that the money they steal they donate to the charity. The group proudly explains that their work is considered a felony but the money they have earned has saved many lives.
